Help in Boise and Des Moines!

As my trip gets closer and closer to happening I've been getting together a list of contacts, basically just hoping to have someone cool to crash with in each city, someone who can show me around and knows where the coolest dive bar is. I've had great success so far everywhere except for Sioux Falls and Boise.

I've basically decided to give up on Sioux Falls, it seems like a dead end... it seems that everyone that used to live there doesn't anymore and blah blah blah, so I'm moving on. But, I still need Boise. Boise seems like the only place that exists between Salt Lake City and Portland, and I don't know, something about it intrigues me. Maybe it's the magical place that will solve everything.

Since I'm giving up on Sioux Falls I thought I'd try for Des Moines. Des Moines seems like a city I've heard of more, so maybe there's slightly more going on there.

Basically, if you know anyone who can show me around in either of these cities, please let me know! I'm a great guest, I promise!

Welcome to my Bus Tour

Hello all. On October 31st I will be getting officially laid off of my job at RewardTV. Don't feel bad for me, I've been there for 4.5 years and I'm ready to move on. Plus, It's giving me an opportunity to do something that I've always wanted to do: write my way across the entire country.

That's right. I'm leaving New York on November 5th and giving myself 60 days to go around the country and make it back. Unfortunately I don't know how to drive a car so I'll be investing in a Greyhound Bust Discovery Pass and I'll be riding sketchy buses the entire way.

I don't really have a plan. I know where I want to go, I know who I'm going to stay with, but in general I'm just kind of winging it. I don't care what I do as long as I get to meet some punnnnx, see some rock showz, eat some food that is both regional and unhealthy, drink some beers, and form some memories. I'm kind of hoping it'll turn out something like this:

Though I don't know specific dates, places I'm planning to visit are: Columbus, Detroit, Lafayette, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City, Boise, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tucson, Austin, Memphis, Nashville, Hunstville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, Washington D.C..

It's going to be intense, I've never been away from New York for that long before, but I'm really looking forward to it and hope it ends up a meaningful experience... it'll be kind of like my Eat, Pray, Love but instead of being dumb like that it'll be more like Drink, Rock, Snog.

We'll see.
